Since Thanksgiving is upon us, I wanted to test out different vegan meal options that are available and easy to make. There are a few options and sometimes it can be overwhelming for which ones to pick.
Today I wanted to try out the Gardein Stuffed Turk'y.
I went to pick up a few things at my local Lazy Acre: the Gardenin Stuff Turk'y, some white corn, sweet potatoes, and the Mac 'n Chao. The cost is about 25 dollars(I picked up some other things, probably be closer to 20 dollars), with these ingredients we are ready to setup a simple vegan Thanksgiving meal.
The first thing to prepare is the white corn, I used two white corn, which is pretty simple to make. Remove the husk from the corn, so all you are left with is just the corn on the cob. Find a pot, fill it with water and bring that to a boil, I used a medium heat. Once the water is boiling, add the corn, cover the pot with a lid, and turn off the heat. I typically leave it in there for 10 minutes and remove the corn to cool off.
Next thing to prepare is the sweet mashed potatoes, I used two medium size to large size sweet potato. Start off by washing the sweet potatoes, removing any extra dirt that might still be on the skin. Then use a peeler to peel the sweet potatoes. After peeling the sweet potatoes, start cutting them into chunks.
Once you have that complete, add water to a pot and bring that to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add the sweet potato chunks you made, and cover it up with a lid. Leave it in there for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, I use a strainer to remove the potatoes and then put them into a mixing bowl. Let them cool off for a few minutes. After they cool off, add some black pepper and I use some flax milk(not a lot, just a little). Then start mashing the potatoes, should take about 10 minutes. There you go, you have some basic sweet vegan mash potatoes.
The next thing to prepare is the Gardein Turk'y itself. What's in the packet is two Gardein Turk'y and two packets of gravy. There are instructions on how to prepare these and it takes about 40 minutes to prepare.
The Mac 'n Chao is very simple prepare, I followed the instruction, and it takes about 6 minutes.
Once all of this is done, you can now bring it together for a pretty good vegan Thanksgiving meal. Since the Gardein Turk'y had gravy with it, I used some of it to top off the sweet potatoes. The meal comes together pretty well and next week, I'll test out another vegan Thanksgiving option.
Happy Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner!
